How much does the initial consultation cost?

The cost of an initial consultation varies from lawyer to lawyer. Some lawyers charge for an initial consultation, while others offer the initial consultation at no charge. At Oykhman Criminal Defence, most initial consultations are free of charge. During a typical consultation, one of our lawyers will review the documents you have been provided by the police, discuss the incident, explain the Court process and possible outcomes, and discuss options moving forward.

If you have not yet been charged, and are seeking pre-charge advice, a fee may be required depending on the complexity of the issues and the kind of advice you are seeking.  A fee is typically warranted in these situations because clients require immediate sophisticated and strategic advice on how to handle the arrest, interrogation, and bail process.  Moreover, we often communicate with the police directly to facilitate the process, and have to be properly retained in order to do so.
