Sam Taylor
Criminal Lawyer
About Sam Taylor
I am a criminal defence lawyer at Snukal Law Office in collaboration with Strategic Criminal Defence (an association of independent law practices). Together we are a Full Service Criminal Defence Law Office, with central offices across Western Canada and Ontario
Unique Perspective
I have a unique perspective on the criminal justice system compared to most criminal defence lawyers.
Before attending law school, I worked as a clerk of the Provincial Criminal Court. Through this experience, I got to work with the very judges who hear criminal cases and really got to see how the criminal justice system operates from the inside.
I also worked at the Alberta Crown Prosecutor’s office as a summer student during law school. This experience gave me an understanding of how prosecutors assess and handle various cases.
Although I am a recently minted lawyer, I already have years of experience in criminal law. This experience has been compounded as a junior lawyer working for Rebecca Snukal K.C. In that capacity, I have already personally handled hundreds of cases and a variety of charges including assault, drug possession, property offences, and arson, and have assisted with countless others.
Education
A born and raised Calgarian, I graduated from Mount Royal University in 2019 with a Bachelor of Health and Physical Education. In my final year of this program, I decided to pivot from a focus on the body to a focus on the mind and went on to pursue my passion for criminal defence law.
During my time at the University of Calgary law school, I was an active member of the Student Legal Assistance program. This gave me an early experience at providing legal services to Calgarians who find themselves facing the criminal justice system and need someone to help raise their voice.
How We Can Help
With a focus on providing meaningful support and advocacy, I am intent on ensuring all clients achieve their right of access to justice. I work tirelessly to ensure all my clients get the attention and assistance they deserve to navigate the criminal justice system and have their voices heard.
